Your role 
As Android developer you will work within a multisite, close-knit interdisciplinary team of developers ranging from embedded to backend software engineers, to create fresh smart-metering and IoT solutions that reshape traditional utilities toward smart city paradigms. As such, you will become familiar with GWF’s proprietary technology and develop mobile applications that communicate with measurement systems and deliver IoT data to the cloud.   • Fluency in Java/Kotlin and a passion for the Android platform.

What you will do 
As part of an inspiring team, you are responsible to build up and operate Business Intelligence (BI) services that fulfills key business requirements. In that role, you will translate business requirements to data requirements and design data models to support an agile development lifecycle of interactive BI reports. What you will do

You will be responsible for creating schematic capture and PCB layouts for hardware releases of e.g., flow metering devices and LoRa/NB-IoT communication modules. You will be accountable for the definition, creation and release of the component schematics and PCB layouts. Clearly documenting your design and results will add to the professionalism of your work. Your peers will recognize you for your unique combination of solid theoretical and practical background in embedded hardware (and firmware) design for low-power applications. During your involvement in high-profile product development projects, you will contribute towards program goals, ensuring schedules are met and deliverables are signed-off in time, scope and budget.

What you will do 

As a member of the Software Development team you report to the local Team Leader and drive the streamlining of our business application portfolio, while contributing to high-profile digital transformation projects within GWF. You will work tightly together with Senior IT Management located in Lucerne, Switzerland to identify and implement Power Apps integrations keeping both user experience and ease of maintenance in mind. For instance, you will set up PowerApps/Flow integrations to automate and speed up data entries, facilitate measurement data flows and thus supercharge end-to-end business processes. Together with the Team Leader, you will harmonize the interfaces across the application landscape. You are excited to launch smart products from sketch to prototypes all the way to stable serial production or to contribute your ideas towards further optimizing successful products. What you will do 
You will work together with engineers across Europe to design our new products and optimize the currently successful ones. Due to our wide product range from the smallest commercial to the largest industrial meters, you have to simultaneously deal with different kinds of design approaches and materials, like reinforced thermoplastic, brass, and even powder-coated cast iron. For our radio communication modules and all the electronic housings or sensors you also have to select the right design trade-offs regarding fine connection parts, such as lead frames and all kind of electronic connections. You will create new designs and production-ready drawings according to current standards, leveraging existing concept models and sketches. You will own tolerance analyses, DFMEA, DFA & DFM, while also adhering to the highest quality standards (e.g., PPAP). Our meters are known to withstand the toughest environmental conditions, so having experience with sealing, potting and gluing and/or willingness to dive into this exciting topic would be highly advantageous. Due to the regulated environment of our products, you will be considering drinking water approvals like KTW, WRAS & NSF and also deal with meter specific norms (e.g., ISO, ANSI).  In summary, you will be relentlessly exposed to a broad array of exciting mechanical design and industrial engineering topics – guaranteed to keep you on your toes.       

 

Qualifications and experience 

  • 4+ years of experience in mechanical design, preferably in a regulated environment (e.g., capital goods, metering, medical applications)

  • Excellent CAD knowledge is required, CREO is a must, Solid Works a strong plus. 
  • User know-how of PDM tools is a plus.

  • Experience Exposure with electromechanical assemblies/parts like Ultrasonic Transducers, pressure sensors, PCBs, cables, and plugs will be of utmost importance 
  • Experience with casted parts and associated production steps like machining and coating is a strong plus. 
  • Knowledge of IP68 sealing is a must and gluing a strong plus.  
  • Eagerness to learn and master new and dynamically evolving fields of knowledge 
  • Excellent English & German communication skills are a must.

What you will do 

Based in Thessaloniki, you will work with an interdisciplinary team of developers ranging from hardware and electronics to mobile software engineers. 

You will become familiar with GWF’s proprietary technology, sensors, actuators, and industrial measurement systems. 

You will work with the local team, while having access to expert technical guidance by the respective product tech leads throughout Europe. 

You will design and develop C code for embedded systems (e.g., flow meters, communication modules and gateways) with focus on low-power applications. Your knack for algorithms will help shape our next-generation products. 

You will contribute towards program goals, ensuring schedules are met and deliverables are signed-off in time, scope, and budget. 

To excel in this role, you will further need to think beyond your area of expertise and recognize firmware dependencies across the technology stack, i.e., across hardware, software, and electronics design all the way to ramping up an industrialized production line. 

 

Qualifications and experience 

  • 5+ years of experience in embedded firmware development, preferably in a regulated environment (e.g., metering, medical applications). 
  • Expert in C programming in an embedded firmware context. Knowledge of the IAR toolchain is a plus. 
  • Expert in C++ programming. Experience working with a Linux environment is highly desirable. 
  • Practical knowledge of STM32, MSP430, TI DSP microcontrollers is advantageous. 
  • Exposure to low-power FW implementation in relation to the above MCUs is desired. 
  • Experience in scripting. Python knowledge is highly desirable. 
  • Ability to work with continuous integration and delivery and experience with Azure DevOps and related tools is a plus. 
  • Ability to fluently interface with internal and external stakeholders on a technical level. 
  • You are eager to identify, take ownership of issues, and drive them to resolution. 
  • Excellent English communication skills is a must, German is a strong plus. 
  • BSc/MSc in Electrical Engineering or similar rounds up your profile. 
  • You have fulfilled your military service obligations (for Greek male applicants).
