Your role
As Android developer you will work within a multisite, close-knit interdisciplinary team of developers ranging from embedded to backend software engineers, to create fresh smart-metering and IoT solutions that reshape traditional utilities toward smart city paradigms. As such, you will become familiar with GWF’s proprietary technology and develop mobile applications that communicate with measurement systems and deliver IoT data to the cloud. You will work hand-in-hand with the local team, while having access to expert technical guidance by the respective product tech leads. You will write clean, testable and well-documented code and treat security as a first class citizen. You will participate in agile processes within Microsoft’s ecosystem (MS Teams, Azure DevOps) including sprint planning, ticket grooming and daily stand-ups. You will troubleshoot applications and offer timely solutions when finding bugs. You will keep yourself up-to-date with respect to the technology landscape and contribute in the full app lifecycle, from ideation to delivery to the Play Store.

As part of an inspiring team, you are responsible to build up and operate Business Intelligence (BI) services that fulfills key business requirements. In that role, you will translate business requirements to data requirements and design data models to support an agile development lifecycle of interactive BI reports. You will be creating visualizations, dashboards, and formatted reports together with business stakeholders and your IT colleagues. You will perform ad-hoc analysis and create prototypes by extracting and aggregating data sets from various data sources. You will implement role-based access controls to data and reports as well as data query and data refresh strategies. You will work together with the local team, while having access to expert technical guidance by the respective product tech leads throughout Europe. In doing so, you will also immerse yourself in GWF’s multisite development team setup.
You will be responsible for creating schematic capture and PCB layouts for hardware releases of e.g., flow metering devices and LoRa/NB-IoT communication modules. You will be accountable for the definition, creation and release of the component schematics and PCB layouts. Clearly documenting your design and results will add to the professionalism of your work. Your peers will recognize you for your unique combination of solid theoretical and practical background in embedded hardware (and firmware) design for low-power applications. During your involvement in high-profile product development projects, you will contribute towards program goals, ensuring schedules are met and deliverables are signed-off in time, scope and budget.

As a member of the Software Development team you report to the local Team Leader and drive the streamlining of our business application portfolio, while contributing to high-profile digital transformation projects within GWF. You will work tightly together with Senior IT Management located in Lucerne, Switzerland to identify and implement Power Apps integrations keeping both user experience and ease of maintenance in mind. For instance, you will set up PowerApps/Flow integrations to automate and speed up data entries, facilitate measurement data flows and thus supercharge end-to-end business processes. You are excited to launch smart products from sketch to prototypes all the way to stable serial production or to contribute your ideas towards further optimizing successful products. You have fun creating new things and thinking out of the box, and you also enjoy doing quality and precision-oriented design work. You have a solid background in Mechanical Design, with relevant exposure to a diverse product portfolio, preferably in a regulated environment (e.g., capital goods, metering devices, medical applications). What you will do
You will work together with engineers across Europe to design our new products and optimize the currently successful ones. Due to our wide product range from the smallest commercial to the largest industrial meters, you have to simultaneously deal with different kinds of design approaches and materials, like reinforced thermoplastic, brass, and even powder-coated cast iron. For our radio communication modules and all the electronic housings or sensors you also have to select the right design trade-offs regarding fine connection parts, such as lead frames and all kind of electronic connections. You will create new designs and production-ready drawings according to current standards, leveraging existing concept models and sketches. You will own tolerance analyses, DFMEA, DFA & DFM, while also adhering to the highest quality standards (e.g., PPAP). Our meters are known to withstand the toughest environmental conditions, so having experience with sealing, potting and gluing and/or willingness to dive into this exciting topic would be highly advantageous. Due to the regulated environment of our products, you will be considering drinking water approvals like KTW, WRAS & NSF and also deal with meter specific norms (e.g., ISO, ANSI).
